School District and Local Clergy Plan 2019 MLK Commemoration
School District administrators and members of the clergy gathered at Board of Education offices for a meeting to share news and plan for the group’s annual Interfaith Martin Luther King, Jr., commemorative event.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday, Jan. 13, at Port Chester Middle School at 6 p.m. The Reverend Patrice L. Kemp, Sr., Pastor for the St. Frances AME Zion church will be the keynote speaker. The celebration also will include readings from Dr. King’s body of work, as well as performances by the Port Chester Middle School Chorus directed by Mark Zizolfo.
This is the fourth year that this longstanding event has been organized by interfaith and community leadership comprised of All Souls Parish, the Port Chester NAACP, Bethesda Baptist, Christ’s Church Rye, St. Frances AME Zion, Congregation Kneses Tifereth Israel, the New Bethel Community Worship Center, and the Port Chester School district.
