School district elections include voting for School Board candidates, school district budgets and school district referendums. In order to vote in school district elections, you must be a registered voter.
If you are not already a registered voter, information about registering to vote can be found below.
If you are a registered voter who cannot vote in person, information about obtaining and voting by Absentee Ballot is at the bottom of this page.
In order to register to vote you must:
Be a U.S. citizen
Be 18 years of age by the date of the election in which you want to vote
Live within your voting district at least 30 days before an election
Not be in jail, or on parole, or have a felony conviction
Not claim the right to vote elsewhere
Copies of the Registration Form can also be obtained at the District's Central Administration Office at 113 Bowman Avenue, the Town of Rye office at 222 Grace Church Street, or the County Board of Elections at 25 Quarropas Street in White Plains.
The application must be received by April 22, 2017 by the County Board of Elections in order to register in time for the May 16, 2017 Budget Vote and Board of Education election.
Individuals who wish to vote only in district elections and who meet the voter criteria can register by reporting, in person, to the Central Administration Office at 113 Bowman Avenue by May 8, 2017. The District Clerk's office is available for registration during the following times:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 1:00 - 4:00 PM until May 8, 2017
2:30 - 6:30 PM on Monday May 8, 2017
You must bring a photo identification and proof of residence.
Applications for Absentee Ballots are available in the District Clerk's office located in the Central Administration Office at 113 Bowman Avenue on Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and may be picked up by the voter or his/her representative. Applications can also be downloaded here.
The last day to apply by mail for an Absentee Ballot is Tuesday May 9, 2017. Completed applications should be mailed to the District Clerk, Port Chester Schools, P.O. Box 246, Port Chester, NY 10573.
The last day to apply in person for an Absentee Ballot is Monday May 15, 2017
Once the application is reviewed and accepted, an Absentee Ballot will be issued. Completed and signed ballots may be mailed to the District Clerk, Port Chester Schools, P.O. Box 246, Port Chester, NY 10573, or they can be hand delivered by the voter or his/her representative to the District Clerk's Office at 113 Bowman Avenue.
In order for the ballot to be counted, it must be received in the District Clerk's office or dropped in the ballot box in the Port Chester Middle School gym no later than 5:00 PM on the day of the vote: Tuesday May 16, 2017.
